Calf 294

With Pet Day happening next Friday, LC 5 has been looking at animals that are found on the farm.  This week we have been learning about cows and what products are made from milk.  We have been looking at Peter Diem's a Dutch artist.

A big thank you to Bode's Dad, who bought in a calf that was only 2 weeks old.  He told us a lot of information about calves.  Come and read our descriptive stories about 294.

LC 5 got another opportunity to help feed George's lamb and we asked LC 7 to come and help.  George told us, he has no name, so we were coming up with names that we thought best suited the lamb.  What do you think George should call his lamb?

George's Mum told us that this breed of lamb is called a Dorper and it comes from South Africa.

After the lamb guzzled down the milk we starting talking about what he felt like to touch.  Caleb came up with a FANTASTIC idea.  This gave us the idea of writing about what the lamb felt like.  Here are some of our stories.

Book Week

WOW I have never read so many books in one week!

After each morning tea break and long play break us teachers went off to different classrooms and read.   I had my favourite book I found at the book fair called 100 Most Disgusting things.  Topics included maggoty cheese, poo flinging hippos and crispy spiders.

On Friday it was dress up as your favourite book character.  LC 5 was inundated with Spiderman's along with Fancy Nancy, a dragon, Sleeping Beauty, Tigger, Fast o Saur, Woody and a Dinosaur who loves underpants!  (it's a book I promise)

Kapahaka

On Thursday 6th of September all of West Melton went and watched our Kapahaka team perform at the Cultural Festival.

We weren't allowed to take photos when we were inside so here are our stories about the Cultural Festival (stories to be added soon).

Lucy the Lamb

George bought his pet lamb, Lucy to school and LC 5 and LC 6 got to feed her.  She was one hungry lamb.
George told us interesting facts about Lucy.

Lucy was only 12 days old.
Lucy is an orphan because her mother died.
Lucy is a merino lamb.
Lucy is not allowed to drink air because it can give her a sore tummy.

Thanks to George's Mum, Michele who bought Lucy down, we loved feeding her.  Can't wait to see Lucy for Pet Day in term 4.
