Book making

What fun we had making our first books.  Who knew a couple bits of paper and staples would entertain for ages.

After we made our books we found pictures of animals.  We became our very own illustrators for our first books.  Once the illustrations were complete we needed  story.  How exciting we were authors just like Joy Cowley who has written some of our favourite books.

These were our first books and we learnt so much about how books work.
Samantha said "I need a title for my book."  George said "I am using finger spacing just like in real books."  Asher said "my pictures match my story."

Dinosaur Inquiry

Over the past weeks the KIWI team have been learning about dinosaurs.  We have discovered this site that helped us learn if dinosaurs were herbivores or carnivores (or our new names we came up with meat o saurus and plant o saurus).  Come and play Dinosaur appetite

This Dinosaur song was a favourite!  We loved acting out the song using our own moves.

Lucy the Lamb

George bought his pet lamb, Lucy to school and LC 5 and LC 6 got to feed her.  She was one hungry lamb.
George told us interesting facts about Lucy.

Lucy was only 12 days old.
Lucy is an orphan because her mother died.
Lucy is a merino lamb.
Lucy is not allowed to drink air because it can give her a sore tummy.

Thanks to George's Mum, Michele who bought Lucy down, we loved feeding her.  Can't wait to see Lucy for Pet Day in term 4.

We will be learning about Dinosaurs soon and I thought it would be fun to learn about our own skeletons.  Here are some stories we wrote about a time we went to hospital and get x -rays.

I went to the hospital to see my Mum and my baby sister Claudia.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

I shared one of my favourite books with the class today, called Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

This was also our first poem that we learnt.

Getting arty with LC 6

We have been learning about the ARTS with the Kiwi team.  Here we are exploring the visual arts with  LC 6.  We learnt about texture, blending, horizon line using paint to create backgrounds for our dinosaurs.
